i have the right belt, for my mower blades?
But i cannot get any tension on it..,it IS run correctly..,and appears to still be a few inches too long.
It's a MURRAY auto-drive (2000 yr.) 42 inch swath. How do i get it tight enough to operate ...,safely?
Try releasing the brake pedal. Some models require that you engage the brake pedal before doing anything with the deck, this pushes the tensioner pulley far away from the belt, leaving it loose so it can be removed. Once you reroute the new belt, you have to release the pedal for it to engage. If that's not it, then you should try consulting your owners manual to see if there's any help there.
