Does the thread size of a lawn mower spark plug matter?
My Troybilt push mower with a 6.5 HP Briggs & Stratton engine came with a Champion spark plug that had a short threaded area, whereas the Bosch spark plug I replaced it with has a fullsize threaded area, pretty much a car spark plug. Does this matter? I put it in a few months ago and started the mower up twice and let it run for about 20 seconds each and it sounded and started fine. I have yet to actually mow with it though.
So will just any other short spark plug work?
That's the last time I get anything from Bosch. I've already heard bad things about them. I looked on their site for my precise model of mower and now I realize they sent me what are obviously car plugs.
I went right to the Briggs & Stratton website and got this:

Not happy about paying twice as much for shipping as the plug itself costs but whatever.
If it runs good, your lucky and okay. Too long and the piston would be damaged.
