I broke the pull cord on my lawn mower. How hard is it to fix my self? I will pay someone but rather do it .?
I started trying to fix it but it looks like you have to take it al the way apart. can I retie the cord or should I buy a whole new cord and pull thing.
this is one of the easiest things to do just take off recoil shroud usually 3 or 4 bolts.next take out the rest of broken cord next wind the pulley counterclockwise you should feel spring getting tight keep winding until stop then back pulley one revoulution until line hole on shroud with pulley hole put screwdriver through pulley hole so it won't unwind next take new rope with handle already installed and put end of rope through both holes and tie overhand knot rope should be 5 to 7 foot hold rope and slowly take out screwdriver while holding rope let it slowly wind back in now you are a small engine mechanic .good luck
