How do you jury rig a kill switch on a small engine like a 16 HP honda gxv530?
Building a racing mower for fun we got a brand new Honda gxv530 for free but with none of the wiring harnesses and susch we have it all ready to go just need to rig a kill switch. I'm sure it has a stop engine diode where is it and how do i use it? We have the engine starting with a push button we hooked to the solenoid and it works fine but we have to disconnect the spark plugs to kill it I have a flip switch ready to wire but where do I wire it?
been awhile since ive worked on a honda twin cylinder but i think you just ground both coils to kill it. if it has two stationary coils each with a small lug attached just shorting them to ground is how it usually works. thats how most all small engines work. pull the fan cover and look at the coils, if they look like regular lawn mower engine type stuff just ground the spade lugs to kill it, it should be fine.
