Sear/Craftsman Mower Won't Start?
Having trouble starting my '98 Sears/Craftsman lawn tractor. Has a 16 HP Kohler engine, & hyrdo drive. Has been stored/unused for about three years. Have changed oil & filter, cleaned air filter, cleaned spark plug, and checked/cleaned carb floater cup. After numerous tries, engine fires, but runs for only two/three seconds and emits lots of blue smoke from exhaust. Appears to be flooded? Also, at each attempt to start, I detect a "click" at starter?....takes two or three key turns until engine turns over. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.. Jeff in GA
Did you have the engine upside down. If so oil went into the chamber. Just keep cleaning the plug and it should burn away and run good.
Or the float is not shutting off the flow of gas. Check for a stuck check valve that works with the float. Also is the float full of gas and sunk.
