Yardman Lawn Mower Problem?
We are using my father's riding lawn mower and he has mulching blades on. He has the little hole thingy where the grass should normally come out of blocked with a piece of metal and tape. Well when trying to mow the grass you can not mow on anything less than a level 3 and sometimes only a level 4. Also when mowing the grass the mower will start to make a skreeching sound and then smoke and then the blade just stops cutting. Not sure what the problem is nor how to fix it. In addition to the noise and smoking, the blade is often missing areas of grass. any ideas?
that screeching sound is the belt slipping and the smoke is the rubber belt burning. you have to open the little hole thing. the grass has no where to go and it gets to be too much for the mower to handle, thus the slipping and burning belt and missed areas of grass. open the hole and you will be fine
