What causes a lawn mower engine to start to smoke excessively and stall. It is hard to restart and stalls again?
The Troy Built rider has only 40 + hours. It is hard to start and it runs for two to four minutes, then it starts to produce real heavy smoke and then stalls.I've cheked the air filter and the oil is fine.
The oil ring in the engine itself is defective...the engine runs then heats up and the oil ring on the piston expands and it is letting oil bypass the ring and get into the combustion chamber (which is the cylinder itself between the top of the piston and the spark plug...and it starts to burn the oil off in there (that should not bypass the oil ring) that has passed buy and it is burning it off..eventually so much oil gets in there that it makes the gas trying to burn off too thin and too rich with oil..that it fouls out..to fix this now days in our "disposable world" usually outweighs the cost of a new motor..How many years warranty comes with this mower? Troy built usually carries a pretty good warranty
