Starting a lawn business?
I am large into snow plowing and have that down to the tee, but my uncle calls me the other day and say he has about 200- 500 commercial propertys for lawn care too, so i am just wondering what do you think i should do, i mean i two other guys that will buy mowers with me and are dedicated, i have more work than i can handle would it be stupid of me not to take this chance and start this company, plus i have a bunch dirt work and boulder work as a back up plan, so for the cost of around 30,000$ would it not be start this company up, i am just looking for opions because i sure as heck am having trouble making this decision
i am not taking all the account myself, just enough to keep me and my two partners busy for about 12-13 hour days, and for break downs they are pretty nice account which should help in wear and tear, but i am not looking to have any employees at this time just us three guys.
Being in the lawn business, I can give some advise. It takes a LOT of work to make a profit in the lawn business. You have so many costs (mostly on fuel and equipment repairs). I run a business that's been around for 10 years and we make enough to pay the employees, and have a little left over at the end of the month to pay the owners. We have 5 employees and two trucks with trailers full of equipment to take care of about 65 properties (we spend about $700 a week on fuel in the summer just for those). Hope that helps with your decision.
