how to choose the right lawn mowers?
front propelled vs. rear propelled, rear high wheels or regular height both front and rear? all i know is i want a self propelled lawn mower coz i'm tired of pushing, just don't know the differences.
Front drive mowers are usually cheaper because they generally only go one speed. The rear drive mowers are usually more expensive, but can come with a variable speed option.
As far as the rear wheels, the best thing is to do this test. Have both machines side by side. From behind push down on the one with the high wheels so the front wheels are off the ground. Feel how much effort you are using. Now do the same for the regular wheel one.
Don't bother with the box stores. If it breaks down, will they come and get it? Do they have parts in stock? Have they been factory trained to repair your machine? Go to a servicing dealer. They are backed by the factory and have the knowledge to help you.
I will suggest one brand for you, Toro. They have a 3 year warranty on their mowers, plus have a dealer network that can help you. Yes, Toro is sold in Home Depot, but the would send you to the dealer for problems anyway. So skip the middle man and deal with a dealer. http://www.toro.com
