Sudden double vision after eye surgery for a strabismus?
I had surgery on my left eye about four months ago to correct a strabismus and fix my double vision. I only had it on the right and top of my vision. The results were great; I just have a little double vision on the very edge of my field of view.
A couple days ago I went out to mow the yard. About 10 minutes after I started things started looking weird. It was another couple minutes before I realized I was having double vision again. While still mowing I was checking my field of view and realized it wasn't how it used to be, now everything was double. When I was done mowing (about an hour all together) I went inside and sat for a bit; in about 10 minutes my vision was back to normal.
Could this just be random? It was a sunny day, could the bright light have caused it? Maybe the vibration from the lawn mower did something? It wasn't hot out, and I was feeling fine. Other than the fact that there were two of everything, things were normal.
Any ideas?
If the eyes are not perfectly straight, it can cause double vision. It may not be noticible, but some people continue to notice the double vision with slight eye deviation. Being out in bright light seems to exaggerate it in quite a few people. I wouldn't worry about it if it only lasted momentarily. If it worsens, becoming more frequent or persistant, go see your doctor again.
