any suggestions most welcome!?
i'm a single mother, & struggling to make ends meet, when my riding mower quit working, i tried in vain to find someone to look at it, & i started saving for another one., & i found one advertised on the huntsville trader by a mr. eugene isbell, here in huntsville, & i borrowed the rest of the money, & bought the lawn mower, which he promised was a good one, and would last, for 575.00. the lawn mower didn't even cut a fraction of my grass the first day before it stopped working, and after several calls, mr. isbell informed me tough luck, & refused to give me my money back, which has really left me in a bind, i;m really angry at myself for being so .. naive, but most of all, it affects my child as well, is there anything i can do about this?

Sadly, being that you bought it from a private individual instead of from a business I don't think there is much you can do. If he sold it as is, then you are pretty much stuck. At best you might be able to contact the huntsville trader and complain, and they might know more of what you can do.
You might want to try again to find a small engine repair shop to look at both of your lawn mowers, because normally it's a little thing that's wrong with it that you can easily overlook.
