where can I get a engine for a go kart?
ok Im going to build a go kart with my friend and we need a engine we could use a lawn mower engine but we think it won't be powerful enough for what were going to do with the go kart. we were think somthing like a atv or dirt bike engine.
this is not for lifting or racing just for some high speed fun
I would suggest looking for any horizontal shaft engine. Garden tractor, garden tiller and the like.
A motor cycle engine would be nice I guess, but with out a full roll cage it would be a death trap. Legend racers and some other entry level race cars use this set up, and with out a real race track that has safety crews such an endeavor is just too risky to consider from my point of view.
But if you want some speed thrills, and excitement, as well as having the money to play with, why not think about real competition? It would give you a safe place to compete as well as some driving experience that just is legal no place else.
