My mtd riding mower won't start It spins fine with sparkplug out but only in short little gasps with it in?
Battery if fully charged, starter is fairly new and so is the solenoid
First I would clean the battery wire connectors really good with fine sandpaper.
Clean the air filter like the other guy said. It could be too rich and need more air. I know if the engine gets flooded it can be hard to turn over.
Last check for carbon buildup on the muffler. If the air can get out it will not turn over.
Double check the battery charge too.
