My lawn mower has black smoke coming from the muffler...?
My dad used to fix mowers so I have just about what i need to fix it but, can't figure out this problem. I changed the oil, Cleaned the muffler, and air filter. It's a murray 2in1, 4.0 hp, any suggestions would be great. thanx
It ran out of gas, so i let it cool down a bit like usual and filled it that's when it started with the smoke.
Nope I always double check my gas cans, plus it's labeled lawnmower.
It may be running too cold. Get a hotter plug.

It is getting too much fuel. Take the carb apart and make sure the float and needle is working proper. Then turn the mixture screw in until it JUST seats(stops) and turn out 1 1/2 rotations(could be 2 complete rotations). Try to start it. After it starts turn the screw in slowly until the motor starts coughing and then back out a 1/4 turn. Should be good there.
