My Murray push mower, B&S 4.5Q engine started fine, ran for a while, then runs at VERY low RPM.?
First use this year. Ran fine at first, then runs at very low RPM. New spark plug. Fuel problem? Primer bulb works fine. Plastic carb. I hate mowing the lawn anyway....
None of the answers had any bearing on my problem. No idle adjustment screw. No wasp nests. I took it apart, found nothing wrong, reassembled and it runs fine now. Go figure.
Just need to turn up the idle usually a small screw near where the throttle cable ends at the carburetor.
Wasp or mouse in cover? Oh my! There's no room for either of those under the cover. If one never needed to adjust the idle why does every internal combustion motor ever made have an idle adjustment?
