Will my homeowners insurance policy cover the theft of my riding lawn mower?
If so, will I need to file a police report? It was stolen from the garage outside of my home, the door was closed but not locked. This happened a couple months ago, but I didn't know that my insurance could cover such a thing. I was told yesterday that it does. If so, is it too late to file a police report? Thank You!
Yes, and yes. It's not too late to file that police report.
Keep in mind, it's subject to your homeowners deductible. Also keep in mind, it "counts" against you as a claim. It might not be a good IDEA to file this claim, but it SHOULD be covered.
