My riding lawn mower won't start?
I have a AYP 36" riding mower and when you turn the key it does nothing...no click and no start. I have replaced the plug, battery, solenoid, ignition switch, and checked the fuse. It will bypass the solenoid fine and start right up...the key will also turn the mower off. I can't figure this out. Anything i missed?
This is a common question. The one thing that I always recommend is to clean the negative connection from the battery to the frame of the mower. Everybody thinks to clean the battery terminals but forgets the frame. This would cause exactly your problem since you can hotwire it to start. The key would still shut it off. The frame can rust under the wire lug, it does not take much to make the connection bad.
