can a riding mower be started if the starter is bad ?
if a ground is put to the battery & starter it will try starting but its like the battery is not strong enough.Could I start it by putting cables on truck battery & Use + to starter?
That would certainly turn the starter. The question is will the motor fire? If the starter is bad, then you have no generator to fire the plugs and run any collateral electrical systems. The starter on most riding mowers doubles as a generator. They are only about 35-40 bucks and easily replaced. Also, check the battery, and the ignition solonoid.
