Sears Craftsman Mower Blades
Sears 6 year old 6.0 special edition craftsman cord locks up.?

This mower used to run great. (except for a couple of backfires here and there) I have tipped it up a few times to deal with something that got stuck under the blade and the problem started after that I believe. Im mowing and Its deep grass and then the motor starts to die as its quite deep. I tip it up a couple times and the engine revs up so I was going fine when i got into a real grassy area. It died and I saw smoke. I went to pull the cord and it wouldnt start. I let it cool and it started fine again. Then one time even when it was cool I still couldnt pull the cord. So i had someone replace the top and the cord and it was fine for one day. Then I got in a deep grassy area as per usual and it died, I saw white smoke and once again the chord is locked. I waited for it to cool and fornutley it started, but the chord seems stiff. I have a feeling its going to totallly lock again permanently. I cant afford a new one so please help.

That other answer is not entirely correct: Craftsman does NOT have a lifetime guarantee on everything labeled Craftsman. It usually only applies to hand tools, such as ratchets and hammers and screwdrivers. You've got to look on the tag or plastic piece attached to the item to see if it has a lifetime replacement warranty and even then that has it's limits, say your hand tool is only rusted but still works, you cannot get a new one under the craftsman replacement warranty. I worked at Sears, I know the policies on that.

Did you get a merchandise repair agreement on your mower when you bought it? That ought to help you get your mower fixed if so. I'm sorry I can't help more.
