what is the best gas lawn mower out there?
something under $400......we dont have a big backyard but would like to have a good one so it lasts for a long time. we had a electric one but my husband got tired of the wire dragging around so now we want a gas mower...
anyone know of a good brand? we are currently looking at the ones at sears, home depot and canadian tire.....

I like the John Deere - had a lot of mowers but it is the best from a mechanical perspective. The first site shows the one I bought. For a little more money, you can get some added features like a battery start (which I guess is a possible point of failure).
For mowing a lawn, the old push reel mowers do the best job, least damage to each blade of grass, most uniform height. The power reel mowers are over the price you mentioned
