Why does my lawn mower backfire?
Almost every time i turn it off, it backfires. It's a craftsman riding mower with a 17.5 HP briggs and stratton motor. It's under warranty. Is this something i should get sears to fix?
it sounds like what we would call preignition in the marine industry it is the fire reaching thecylinderr a little to early it happens most when the motor changes rpm starting or stopping etc it is something that needs to be fixed but take it to sears it is in the timming of motor the stator is just a little out of time it can fixed but if dont it will get worse and ruin your motor basicly it is firing on the excust stroke it will burn a hole in piston if not fixed
